‘De zwarte tulp’ and ‘Het Haarlems Dagblad’

The newest Suske & Wiske comic De zwarte tulp (The black tulip)  is now available in the shops. The cover was slightly adapted in order to match with some of the story’s details, i.e. the costumes of Suske, Wiskeand Ambrose. Since the story mainly takes place in Haarlem, the newspaper ‘Het Haarlems Dagblad’ has published a unique edition. I drew some exclusive designs for this personalized newspaper, e.g. a Frans Hals militia piece with the entire cast of the comic, Ambrose and Aunt Sidonia representing the Ripperda and Kenau statue. The unsurpassed Gerben Valkema made an appropriate version of his ‘Elsje’ comic for the occasion. Well done, Gerben.
